It’s not a normal night out for Emory graduate student, Vanessa. She has been gearing up for tonight’s outing to Ponce City Market for the past few weeks and is excited to finally make her glamorous debut. After weeks of stressful studying, Vanessa is letting loose for Emory’s Public Health Fall Fling. Dressed in a slinky golden number, Vanessa’s sequined dress could catch your eye from a mile away, and that is exactly what she was hoping for when she got dressed up tonight. Bored with her usual attire that prioritizes comfort over style, Vanessa wanted to show her classmates and the rest of Ponce City Market that she too can rock a flashy glam look. Vanessa states “I never leave my comfort zone when it comes to fashion. I’m not usually a big fan of having people look at me, but tonight I wanted to push myself to do something daring and fun.” From her stone earrings all the way to her black heels, Vanessa bought her entire look new two weeks ago. She had been on the hunt for a dress that was reminiscent of the styles Zendaya, her favorite actress, usually wears on the red carpet and ultimately felt that the warm golden color and shimmering dress gave that perfect glamour look. It looks like by dressing up, Vanessa was able to let her hair down!
Gabby is a Miami girl, she’s not a big fan of the cold weather here in Atlanta, but she sure knows how to have fun with her clothing, nonetheless. Tonight is the Emory Public Health Fall Fling and many girls are dressing up in their most glamourous dresses, but not Gabby. Gabby wants to be unique, that’s how she has always branded her style. She doesn’t want to look like anyone else, she simply wants to be chic, comfortable and most of all warm. Tonight Gabby is wearing a short sleeve, navy, corduroy jumpsuit that zips up the front and has a belt tied in a box knot at the front. She has paired her look with delicate silver jewelry, a black leather jacket, black velvet heels and a funky beaded purse. Gabby states “I really don’t care to dress up if it means I won’t be comfortable. I can’t stand the cold and the idea of having my legs or arms freezing would ruin my night, so I chose to dress how I wanted.” She laughs “I did throw on some heels though to add a level of class so they can’t stop me from entering the event.” As her friend’s chuckle at her brazenness, Gabby stroke the beads on her purse and lights up when she remembers that she wants to show it to me. It’s her favorite piece that she has on tonight and perfectly reflects who she is, quirky, fun and unique.
Amy, a graduate student at Emory, also attending the Public Health Fall Fling tonight, is serving her version of a Taylor Swift look tonight. Sporting a long sleeve mini dress covered in sparkly sequins, paired with a classic pair of black heels, Amy wanted to look both classy, flashy and minimalistic tonight. Her dress gleams in the moonlight mesmerizing passersby’s and she blushes as she takes notice, not used to the attention. Her usual style is very casual, jeans and a t-shirt have never failed her, but tonight is special and she has a certain someone she’s hoping to impress. A big Taylor Swift fan, she wanted to embrace her idols persona and use her fashion choice to become someone bold and classy. This little black dress gave her that perfect feeling of channeling her inner popstar. Amy even nailed Swift’s red lip stating “I would never wear a bold lip like this during a normal day out. I’m not the best at makeup, but tonight I wanted to dress up for change. What I love about this style is that I look effortlessly glamorous. I feel like I’m standing out and looking different while still remaining true to myself.”
Binita is ready to party all night on the roof of Ponce City Market! She’s a city girl at heart and has been feeling stifled in her fashion lately as she hasn’t been able to have a night out during her entire first semester as an Emory Public Health graduate student. Getting ready for her first night out this fall wasn’t a difficult task though, Binita loves fashion and had a handful of outfit selections for tonight’s rooftop extravaganza. She ultimately chose to go with a flashy mini dress to give off a fun and flirty vibe. Her strappy silver heels are gorgeous and match perfectly with the silver sequins that cascade up and down her black velvet dress in a seer suckering fashion. Paired with a little faux fur black jacket, Binita keeps herself warm on these cold Atlanta nights without sacrificing any of her flirtatious fashion style. She states “I wanted to wear a look that I felt was both classic and bold. I chose this dress because I know the Ponce City Market roof has a lot of boardwalk style games and I felt like this dress would match the holographic lights.” And that they did, from her shoes to her dress, Binita’s outfit caught the lights atop the roof sending little shimmering reflections all over the floor and booths, she felt it couldn’t express her personality more.
Sarah is showing off her sorority roots tonight for the Emory Public Health Fall Fling. As of three days ago, she didn’t know if she was going to attend the event on the roof of Ponce City Market, so her outfit is a last minute one, but represents her style well. As a former sorority member, Sarah had a handful of dresses from past date nights, mixers and formals to choose from. She hasn’t been shopping for a new dress since she graduated after accumulating so many during her undergrad years. Nevertheless, Sarah’s main concern tonight was looking hot, and she knew her old semi-formal dress would do the trick. Her form fitting patterned dress is one that offers a flirty vibe while remaining classy, she paired it with simple black heels as she wasn’t looking to stand out too much tonight, and a little furry jacket to keep herself warm in the brisk night. Sarah states “I’m not the most unique with my fashion choices day to day, but my main goal is to always look flirty and maybe even a little sexy, I think this look gets that vibe across. Plus, it’s a really comfortable dress and I plan on playing a game of putt putt on the roof tonight, so that’s important.”
